Bill Volkmer just passed along this power point presentation of
Blackpool, England's illuminations and 125 years of streetcars.
Hard for me to realize its been a quarter century since I was there
for the Centenary.   Some of the first generation American fans were
there that time.   I bumped into Al Haij in Blackpool ... probably not
living today.

At any rate, this is Blackpool ... a resort on the Irish Sea for Britain's
industrial workers from the Midlands ... or the workers that used to be
from the Midlands.   A few months ago I started exploring what happened
to the auto companies in Coventry like MG (Morris Garages) ... you can
get the parts to build one today from China.   London taxi cabs?   The 
offices are still in Coventry but the workers are in India.   And so it goes.
So there aren't many workers from Manchester or Coventry or Liverpool
going to Blackpool in the summer anymore.
