Bear in mind that the car house was down the tracks deeper into the yard.
Seldom did I ever venture into the shop building. It was cluttered,
everything was covered with decades of dirt and oil, and the shop personnel
always acted like any "outsiders" coming into the building were there to spy
on them.One time I went in to look at the progress being made on 1776 and
got the "cold shoulder". What they did and how they did it I could not tell
you. Too bad they acted like that, it was a complete 180-degree turnaround
from the operations areas.
