Barry:

Thanks for this link.  I went through as much of the book that is scanned
and I have to say it is all about skirting my home and family without a
direct hit.  

Grace Lash was in the photo referenced in the link, I remember my dad
walking me to Lash Real Estate to get my learners permit. There are several
references to the Soffels and Mrs. Soffel, the movie.  That Mrs. Soffel was
my grandfather's half sister.  We knew nothing about the idle Boys scandal
until the movie was being made.  Paul Wild was also mentioned.  He was my
grandfather's cousin.  

I didn't see anything about the great model railroad in the attic of 48
Southern Ave.  But then that's fitting....

Really never saw any photos of the car line which ran from the West End up
to Mt. Washington.   Here's a couple, one with just trackage shown, and the
other with a car going by.
The first photo (from Historic Pittsburgh website) is described as:

Date: August 10, 1934
Creator: Pittsburgh City Photographer
Description: Woodruff Street improvement.

The second photo is from the book, Images of America, Mt. Washington &
Duquesne Heights.  Got it right from a Google search:
