I remember George Krambles complaining about a problem in Chicago - flooded underpasses stranding the trackless trolley fleet.

At our weekly rail safety update yesterday, we talked a bit about SEPTA shutdown. Starts tonight at end of Saturday service, and will probably restart mid-day or early afternoon tomorrow. Sunday morning will be to check that everything ok. The worry was tree limbs coming down on electric lines.

As for earthquake on Tuesday, SEPTA safety again checked the lines for any structural problems. There was one, but it was a preexisting condition. The slow order was gone by Wednesday.

Also, its a weekend, not a weekday, which is probably prompting this lemming like reaction among political class.

As for our area, Fred, winds are projected to peak at about 35 mph. Rain not a concern unless Irene pulls an Agnus, and lingers over an area of 3-4 days. That's what happened to northeast PA. Could have a power outage, but don't expect it to be long lasting. Probably longer lasting outage along coastal areas. A newscaster this morning mentioned that this is first storm to hit US mainland in about 3 years.

And thank you, Rich, for the Norfolk pix forwarded by Tony Fritz. Took liberty to forward to some at SEPTA. Received favorable replys from engineering and 69th St. shops.

Cheers
John
