Are there really any "right" places to store things in below sea level New
Orleans?
During Hurricane Floyd, when I worked for LYNX in Orlando, all transit
systems in the warning area shut down. This included Miami, Ft Lauderdale,
W. Palm Beach, Daytona Beach, and Orlando. The main reason for shutting
down was not to save the equipment but to keep employees and customers out
of harms way. I could see a passenger standing at a bus stop, under a large
palmetto tree, braving 90 mph winds and sheets of rain waiting for a bus
which may have slipped into a drainage ditch. Far too many legal issues
these days to keep the service running.
