Fish 'n Chips - that's sounds good! Anyone remember the Arthur Threacher's Fish 'n Chips chain? I remember going to one on Liberty Avenue in town just a block down from where most of the South Hills cars turned off of Liberty onto Wood Street.

the special today at Pipers' Pub was fish & chips, but i had curry
chips. as hot as they'd make the curry. as usual, i made the cook sad
when i
said "not hot enough". he said "next time, ghost peppers." i said "bring it".
19th and carson, so basically a block from where the 50 diverged from
the 51, and on the route of the 77/54.
today, we have the 48 sort of in place of the 50, which existed and
then got axed because transit funding is not acceptable in the current
economic and political climate, and the 54 because flying fractions are scary.
pipers' is newer than the carlines, as is the owner's former
restaurant, which was a steakhouse and is now a pub, across the
street.
perhaps not surprisingly, i know the gentleman that now owns that
place as well, as the people who are interested in the neighborhood
as opposed to just filling people with alcohol until they puke are
all interesting people are interested in their business and their
clientele,
and are friends to the neighborhood.
the 50 ended shy of becks run, which was also past the end of the
shuttle to 36th and carson. currently, becks runs is one way up/west,
as South Pittsburg Water (now PA-American Water)
rebuilds their infrastructure.
