[PRCo] General Transit History Question

We all know many transit systems went from rails to rubber tires between 
late 1945 and the early 1950s, be it motor coaches or trackless trolleys.

It appears 1947-'49 were very big years for the manufacturers of these 
vehicles.

My question is, are there any records of systems paying a premium on their 
orders to expedite delivery ahead of another system?
