SEPTA is investigating a collision between two trolley cars that =
disrupted the evening commute for hundreds of suburban commuters late =
this afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 5:20 p.m. when a trolley (car #122) was =
waiting for a signal to cross West Chester Pike and enter the 69th =
Street Transportation Center in Upper Darby. The #122 car was then =
rear-ended by car #117, according to a passenger on board the struck =
trolley car.
Both cars were believed to be operating on the Route 101 line from =
Media.
At least two people were transported to Delaware County Memorial =
Hospital with unknown injuries, though the injuries are not believed to =
be serious.
Service on both Routes 101 and 102 were delayed by approximately 20 =
minutes while the incident was investigated. The cars involved in the =
collision were moved from the scene shortly before 6:00 p.m., but not =
before at least six inbound trolleys were held at the Fairfield Avenue =
station and a seventh was held just south of the scene.
