 Jet blowers were tried by several railroads and transit authorities forty
years ago. They clear snow and ice well at the price of prodigious fuel
consumption. Unfortunately they also blow gravel and ice at high velocity
with sterling effect on windscreens, windows and people. I am pleased to see
that one remains in use, hopefully carefully, in selected locations.
