It's similar in Warsaw (buses and trams) and Tallinn (buses,
trolleybuses and trams), though the signage in Tallinn didn't seem
that great.  Germany tends to have long stop spacing, too, though
probably not as long as Warsaw, at least in the smaller cities
(100-200K) I'm most familiar with.  The other big advantage Europe has
over most US systems is proof-of-payment, so you don't have a long
queue when boarding.
