Not surprising. I'm quite convinced that the two did not connect anywhere in the Triangle area. None of the maps I've been able to find (Sanborn, Hopkins, Pittsburgh Planning Commission) show any such thing.
My admittedly sarcastic remark was prompted by a long-ago exchange here in which I questioned an assertion of such a connection by asking "Are you sure?" which received an answer of "Yes I'm sure! I've seen the map that shows it!" 'Twould have been nice to have mentioned a reference, but no.

I hadn't thought of that possibility. I've heard it said that map makers would do that sort of thing.
