And has been since 1924.
The steel bridge photo I sent was of the Avalon trestle, which is west =
of the High Bridge.

Quite true. It was cut back to the Route 14 Avalon loop because =
of the weakened condition of one of the high trestles west of there.
However, after I sent that photo, I discovered I=E2=80=99d made =
a boo-boo. It ISN=E2=80=99T the Jack=E2=80=99s Run bridge a/k/a High =
Bridge, but rather one further in toward the city, on California Avenue =
at Forsythe Street. At first glance from that angle they look a lot =
alike.
I can=E2=80=99t seem to readily find a shot of a car on the High =
Bridge (Jack=E2=80=99s Run), but here is a fot of an enthusiast trip in =
1965 at the junction of routes 6 and 13/14. It is turning off route =
13/14 onto route 6 on Wynhurst. The High Bridge on California Ave. is in =
the background=E2=80=94east or upriver end of it.
Dick=E2=80=94Yes, it was near the PRR Jack=E2=80=99s Run =
facility, but inland from it, on California Avenue.

Thanks. I recall the bridge very well before North Side =
abandonments. Wasn't the 13 combined with the 6 and then cut back to =
become the 6/14 prior to the buses taking over? I haven't looked at my =
PRys sldes for a long time, but I'm sure I have some good views of all =
the bridges on the line. =20

Further to our recent exchange on the (now infamous) =
Jack=E2=80=99s Run bridge, here is a 1965 shot of Pittsburgh Railways =
inbound route 13 PCC coming off it. Just to the right of where the =
picture was taken was the junction with route 6 and the =
appropriately-named High Bridge loop.
More interesting to me were the more spindly trestles on this =
route built by the tramway company but paved over for auto use as well. =
The second shot is one from 1959 showing another inbound route 13 PCC =
but on the Avalon trestle. It=E2=80=99s unfortunate that the location =
was so treed in as the full height of the trestle is not apparent. Both =
this one and another on the line were quite high.
