William Least Heat-Moon, the pen name of William Lewis Trogdon, is an
American travel writer of English, Irish and Osage Nation ancestry. He has
authored bestselling trilogy of topographical U.S. travel writing.

Born in Missouri, Least Heat Moon went to the University of Missouri where
he joined Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He received Masters and Ph.D.
degree in English, as well as a bachelor's degree in photojournalism. He
was also a professor of English at the university.
