Since we're on this subject and reading comprehension aside, you might also
enjoy On The Road by Jack Kerouac<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kerouac>,
written in 1951. Albeit much, much darker and more worldly than Least
Heat-Moons' books it is still interesting if you wish to take a "minds-eye"
road trip with the "beat generation" of that era, specifically between 1947
and 1950. Least Heat-Moon did his roaming in 1978-79. In Roads to Quoz
there is a sort of meeting of Least Heat-Moon and Kerouac. They're all good
reading for those times I stay inside during winter.
