Well, DVD would be a backup medium, since it's cheap. I only see it as
a backup medium, they wouldn't leave the PTM. We could use tape if
someone really wanted to, but it's more expensive.

There was related to some discussion months ago. I can dig through

This would have to be discussed further. My goal in doing this would be
to have digital copies of as many images, slides, documents, newspaper
clippings &c into a digital format that can annotated at will. I would
like to do OCR on all the images and documents as well, and have that
text be searchable along with any text or geographic annotations. It
would also aid in allowing older documents and items from being handled
anytime someone wanted to study it, since there is very little they
couldn't gleam from a high-quality scan.
Who has access and how it's given would be up to the museum. It
wouldn't be difficult to make it available on the web freely or behind a
member login. Alternatively, we could have it available only within the
library. The cost, wants, and needs of the PTM would be the determining
what we do once we have the data.
