I believe the PRC article  was in color.  I don't have a copy of that 1955 issue, but other copies of Press Roto sections I have from that era are in color. Roto gravure was an offset printing process used by newspapers for printing color magazine sections at a time when the newspaper itself was printed using the more common letterpress process.

I remember reading this article when it appeared in the Press. I also remembering mentioning to a neighbor that the refinished wheels cost $125 each, and �he replied that $125 wasn't really expensive for PRC since, "they have lots of money".
