The June, 1937 guide shows 71 and 82 turning off Centre, as you said. That guide also lists a Route 86-Wilkinsburg/East Liberty running out Liberty then turning onto Centre then turning onto Penn and immediately onto Frankstown. In 1937 Route 87 was a shuttle line from Tioga St Loop outbound to Wilmerding. See attachment.
The book, Touring Pgh By Trolley (c.1992) has maps that indicate 82 and 87 went all the way to Penn in the later days of trolley operation.
