If memory serves correctly, we just went up 4th from Wood to Grant and turned right. Only the Smithfield Street Bridge was open for trolleys by 1971; 47 became the new 53 in 1968, I think.

1647 is outbound on Fourth Avenue approaching Smithfield. The famous and lamented-for-its-passing Klein’s Restaurant is on the left of the car. Given your info, I would guess it is headed out Rt. 53—or had that route already been banned from the Tenth Street Bridge by 1971 and route number 47 renumbered 53? If the latter, where was the car going?

The Butler Street photo is very likely a Pittsburgh City Photographer view, but the date and photo ID have been cropped away. The other two of cars were fantrip views. I was on 1647 that day...it was in 1971, when the Hilltop routes (44, 49 and 53) were converted. Don't know about the view up the Blvd. of the Allies.

I have attached four photos I came across while just randomly surfing the net. There is not much information on any of them. Does anyone have any additional information? Especially dates, photographers and why is a 77/54 trolley heading up Fourth Avenue?
Also, Tiger (the Trolley Cat) says, "....get out and see the Fall leaves now. They won't be around very long this year.. Herb and I** went for a ride in the rural areas of Medina County today and the scenery was excellent."
**Tiger does sit and look out the side window. He is in a harness and leash.
