At 11:00pm on a random weeknight with no sporting event, the 51 Carrick
runs half-hourly and was surprisingly crowded. I'd had a friend's first
beer from his new job as a head brewer on the North Shore earlier, then
walked downtown with 2 friends for a late dinner in the Cultural District.
No bike, alas, as it had rained earlier.
Does the route need more buses? Probably not. It helps (for me) that I can
use it and walk 10 blocks or use a 48 and walk only 3 and they're spaced so
one or the other comes every 15 minutes at that hour.
My friend who lives along the Arlington trolley line is quite sad it runs
never. Patrons of the 43 Bailey (which serves New Arlington, then goes over
to Mt Washington) would probably be similarly sad today as your writer,
while they waited on Smithfield and watched things pass.
