The article states (very last sentence):
"When the PCCs were built in 1947 by the St. Louis Car Co., they each
cost $47,000. New ones cost $1 million."
In 1949, PRCo 1700s were $28,000 with fans and roof monitor adding to
the price. PRCo got a Deal!
Seems the figure for PTC may be typo -- $27,000 is a little more
realistic but still on the high side considering 2+year difference.
Most of the equipment was gone when Ed Metka died. Whatever remained
saw some interest but essentially all was disposed of in short order
with many collecting usable parts, including PTM. Cuz Bruce wrote
article for PTM that mentions some // most of this.
