Foldout in back of PCC book reveals the last 100-Philly PCC cars were
ordered in July-1944, SLCCo order #1649. Delivery date is not
specified; the article said 1947.

PRCo 1700s ordered Sept-1947 (Presumably while Philly cars delivered);
the 1700s delivered first-half 1949, except 1700-Herself who arrived end
of November 1948 and temporarily had her pilot replaced with lifeguard
for duty on 22-Crosstown to expose the public to the new car.
(-TrolleyCars were still a Big Deal -- remember that Ed found us
information showing that car 1600-rotated much of the system after
delivery in 1946 working almost every line.-)

I have seen a very limited amount of the Philly system but never rode a
PCC there. I am not interested in collecting anything about
Philadelphia -- so clicking on this URL was pure chance. This IS the
car that Ed Metka purchased: here is a quote from the article::

"Metka says the car, number 2724, is no lemon. He took a test ride on
Friday, and quizzed the trolley's 11-year operator, Russell Greco,
extensively about its history."
