[PRCo] slide scanning

Dave, you don't mention the scanner model. I would always scan slides and
negatives at the highest optical resolution available, often 4800 dpi.
Depending on the quality of the slide/negative, that may be higher
resolution than you need, but you can always down sample in Photoshop.
