[PRCo] right of way track maps

Is it possible instead of scanning to take digital photos of these maps with the proper distance and lighting? I have done this with just my phone camera and you may be surprised at the results.
Just a thought. Another thought would PTM consider teaming up with the University of Pittsburgh, Historic Pittsburgh, to share what is in the PTM archives. I admit I have no idea how that would work
but there are many collections/partners that are on the U of P Historic Pittsburgh website. Just my 2 cents worth.

I seem to recall Leo Sullivan telling me last spring that this was being done.

We have a scanner capable of doing this in the PTM Archive. We would need to make a carrier (they are limp linen) and find someone experienced and with the time to scan the book of drawings. They are not in "valuation map" format like MBTA's but rather in sections of a very large system map. The pages are something like 24 x 30 inches. Then we would need a place to post them. Perhaps Daria could be of help here.

We are presently making huge changes in our Archive - we have expanded into renovated space next door to our existing rooms and are still in the process of laying things out. Things are moving but there are only so many volunteers and so much time. Our curatorial priorities are moving fragile paper into archival containers and beginning to scan engineering drawings (they too are endangered). These are slow processes but are needed to protect the collection.

While biking from the hospital whose voice clinic I visited this morning to get paçzki, I followed the E Heath St line for a bit and started wondering about track work.

Conveniently, the Boston right of way track maps have all been scanned by the folks that run the MBTA gift shop and are online or can be ordered as reprints!

This begot an idle muse that I wish the PRCo maps were similarly available.
