[Begin Message]

The Port Authority notified me that they will be enforcing fare compliance
this summer.

Passengers may be required to show proof that they have paid their fare on
rail vehicles and inside rail stations.

According to the Authority, the crackdown is to ensure all riders are
paying their fair share while also preparing the riders for an upcoming
change to a cashless proof-of-payment system.

The Authority will be announcing the date that the cashless fare system
will be operational and will provide riders with more information at
stations and on rail vehicles.

First-time offenders found to be without proof of fare payment will receive
a verbal warning and additional offenses can lead to fines of up to $300.

FYI, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority has been using a cashless
proof-of-payment system since 2009 on all rail services and the Clifton
Blvd and Euclid Ave BRT services.
