Jim:

I am sure that was Bob Brown's work. He, among other things, gave me
a full size HL controller out of a PRco. Low Floor car. In addition he
gave me the two necessary relays and showed me how to wire them up to
the internal sequence drum so that I was able to operate my O scale
trolleys using a real honest to god controller. I ultimately donated
that controller to Orange Empire Ry. Museum and I bet they are still
scratching their heads about what those two extra relays were for.

On another occasion i was walking around the Branford trolley museum
and saw a pair of legs sticking out from under a car. When the person
belonging to the legs surfaced I was amazed to find Brownie. I said
you are supposed to be at Arden. He dusted himself off and said,
"well I live in Philly so I alternate weekends between Arden and
Branford."

Pretty amazing guy. Arden has a shelter named in his honor.

I don't know where on the PRR he was working in 1954. Pittsburgh likely.

You mentioned Mr. "Brownie" of Arden Electric Rwy. I wonder if he was
working for PRR in Pittsburgh in 1954? The museum bought what had
been an operating line of Pittsburgh Rwys. after abandonment, but
before dismantlement. Thus, there was still overhead copper trolley
wire, but no more electricity in it. To detect theft, someone
connected the ends of the now dead trolley wire over the museum's line
to a PRR signal wire on its adjacent branch line. If anything got
cut, an alarm would display in a PRR office in the big city. I wonder
if there is a personal connection with the 2 stories?
