Don't forget all those photos of 639, taken during the 1949 fantrip, all
over the system. One even shows it on Route 12, bearing a Route 12 sign.
They even stopped it next to a Rapid Transit articulated and rolled the
latter's sign to reflect a destination on the abandoned Milwaukee Northern
Division, then took photos..
And the 1100 fantrip on the Hales Corner line during the late 1940s,
displaying destination signs such as "East Troy", "Burlington" and even
never reached "Lake Geneva."
Then there's the photo of that same fantrip, taken at the Cold Spring Road
stop shelter. I believe the caption reads that the photo dates from the late
1920s. The peeling paint on the shelter and the insulation peeling off the
feeder cables indicates otherwise.
The trips with 966 and 972 brought out some odd stuff, too, like dash signs
reading "Downer" and "Farwell."
Or showing Route 23 in the box while passing the Wells Street power plant.
And of course, a Curvesider on the Hales Corner and Rapid Transit lines,
displaying Shaker Heights destinations.
A few Pittsburgh rollsigns had whimsical destinations such as "Toonerville"
and "Bat Cave Via Gotham City." Others show a Pittsburgh rollsign in a
Toronto PCC during a fantrip and a St.Louis rollsign in a Pittsburgh PCC
during another fantrip.
