I would believe that any trackage abandoned after WEPCO sold the Transport
Company would have been the Transport Company's responsibility. If the
various municipalities allowed the Transport Company to simply pave over the
rails without removal, then I would guess that the rails would become the
property of those cities and suburbs.
But then again, I am not a lawyer.
I believe the only rail MCTS owns is whatever may be located at their
storage facilities. ;-)
The real question is, does WP&L still own the never paved-over rails in the
street in Plymouth, Wisconsin?
