Route 5 Spring Hill

Can you give me dates for the Spring Hill line - start and  expansion.  I
know that the loop on Rhine St. was built in 1946, and believe that an
earlier end-of track was on Rhine St. near Yetta Ave., in the 30's.  Was
the passing siding on Itin Street built as part of the original line? 
Was the derail switch near the bottom of Itin Street always there (I
heard that it was added to the track after a runaway accident)?

I grew up a block from the Spring Hill loop, and took photos on the last
day of operation in 1957.
