Greetings!
Forgot to answer the last part in a previous post. It is listed
here:

Aaaaagggghhhhhhh Robert - a trolley with its pole chopped off in a
photo is ({[not]}) a streetcar! I try to avoid that at all costs!

Not really - a matter of convenience. It was used on Overbrook
because it allowed better speeds, which speed might cause a dewirement if a
frog is used. Don't specifically know why 5 Spring Hill was gantlet.
West End had a short stretch of bi-directional gantlet about 4 car
lengths where the 27/28 made an S turn on single track under a railroad
overpass. There may be other short section of gantlet overhead but bi-
directional single track was largely single wire:
Drake was single overhead on bi-directional single track.
Neville Island on the 23 line was single overhead on bi-directional
single track.
28 Heidelberg on the outer end was single overhead on bi-directional
single track.
38A between Mt. Lebanon and Castle Shannon was single overhead on
bi-directional single track.
39 Brookline on the outer end was single overhead on bi-directional
single track.
40 Mt. Washington on the outer end was single overhead on
bi-directional single track.
49 Beltzhoover on Arlington between Carson and Warrington and the
outer end on Climax and Gearing was single overhead on bi-directional single
track.
51 Bon Air was single overhead on bi-directional single track.
62 Trafford was single overhead on bi-directional single track.
65 Lincoln Place was single overhead on bi-directional single track.
94 Sharpsburg outer end was single overhead on bi-directional single
track.
