Ken,
Without juding the family's motives, I have trouble understanding their
rationale for:
"They are still embarrassed about the photographer being a trolley fan."
Anyone who captured on film an era that is now gone - whether it be
trolleys or steam boats or live radio drama - deserves recognition and
thanks for being there and having the foresight to preserve a changing
scene for future generations. Life Magaine photographer Marie Bourke
White blazed the trail for female photographers way back in the 1930's.
Roberta Hill was just doing what she believed needed to be done.
I've never felt the need to apologize for being a rail fan, although I
see myself as a photographer first. Regardless, it's rewarding today
when a non-fan sees my photographs and says, "Wow. you were there, and
saw that, and took a picture of it?"
Enough preaching.
