I'd guess "C". I have no knowledge of protection used on M1, but I know
that in past years, guards were well armed. Railway mail clerks carried
side arms into the late 60's, and I know that the Post Office on E. Ohio
St. (Ewalt Station, which was near Chestnut St.) had a machine gun behind
the service counter in the 50's (I saw it).
