Carhouses, Dave's, Etc./Boeing Vertol and M11

Fear not, for the Orange Empire Railway Museum has indicated a strong
intention for acquiring as many Boeings as they can get their hands on.
Same for the older San Diego cars when they are disposed of. Unlike Rio
Vista, OERM is not concerned about the high maintenance of the cars as
they have never maintained anything anyway. Their primary reason for
getting the cars is to have something to run on the main line as none of
their standard gauge cars are serviceable for regular operation.

For what it's worth, every person that I've ever talked to about PTM has
nothing but positive comments about the museum and organization. You
can't save everything. And, as has been pointed out here, the
streetcars selected for preserving depended a great deal on the
preference of whoever had the money back then. This was true of most,
if not all, museums back in the early days. I applaud PTM for getting
what they could and taking care of their collection over the years. By
contrast, OERM has the finest representation of cars from a city (Los
Angeles), yet little effort is being made to preserve or interpret the
collection. And they are still in the "let's get everything that we can
get our hands on" mentality which reduces the very limited resources for
conservation of their collection. Many pieces of equipment have
literally not been touched since coming to the museum.

So whatever problems that PTM may or may not have had in acquiring cars,
at least you guys have a terrific and caring museum.
