A case in point occurred to me on RT. 49 in 1978 at Arlington/Warrington. I
was inbound operating a 1600 series car. I prepared to make the left turn
from Warrington to Arlington but missed the traffic signal do to heavy auto
traffic. An outbound car was waiting on Arlington to make the right turn onto
Warrington. I had pulled my car just to the stop-bar (the white line) to make
the turn. I also had my operators wing-vent window open fully. The outbound
car now had the green light and made the right turn. As that car passed my
car my open window slammed shut quickly. What had happened was that the
opposite bound car had actually struck the window and closed it. Fortunately
no damage. From that time on I made sure I stayed behind the stop-bar when
waiting to make a turn at that intersection. N/C curves are always dangerous
places to meet another car.
However, we have still not answered the original question as to the location
of the photo Ken J. referenced. I am still saying Talbot/4th. Someone had
also mentioned Rankin Bridge. I do not recall any signals other than the
normal traffic lights on Rankin Bridge.
