I know Ed is going to clobber me if I don't get my adjectives, nouns and
dangling
participles in order. He is perfectly correct in this and I just get wound
up and rolling along not worrying about anything.
But it is terrific that Ed is taking the time to help us all out who want to
stay in this time warp of 1952 and earlier.
Yes, I omitted the details on the picture that Ed described, such as the
destination sign being white on black and reading after Mt. Pleasant - Hecla
- Youngwood - Greensburg. A bit of artistic license in several areas.
I took a swag from memory on how far up the hill the line was at Armbrust (my
spelling error). When I was talking about the line coming in from Hecla,
isn't that the
right of way between the two drives that is east of 819? I know in looking
at my photos last last evening that the line after crossing 819 and passing a
house or two
did travel a good ways before climbing the grade to start over the long
bridge.
I have trouble with the road marking system and tend to think of these
"lesser" roads as county roads. Most don't have any prefix on the map, also
the T roads are marked which I assume is Township. My effort is still to get
you from point A to point B and not miss anything and conserve as much time
as possible.
I also hate the spell check in this program, and am going back and load an
old version of Word Perfect that I was comfortable with. So like a trip to
the dentist, I avoid spell check too often. I'm sorry.
What I have always like about Hecla was the entrance to the wye over the two
highways behind the house, the siding beyond the wye and most of the
earliest films I saw of West Penn contained footage of Hecla and the
Connellsville terminal.
I saw 280 and 290 cars that looked to be on school runs passing, and of
course the three car meets. I am trying to work the entire scene into a
model layout but so far only have part of it figured in. I need to take
time out from planning and go weather my 700's to look like the beautiful job
from Mr. Dietrich - or I should say try to come close to his work..
I've still got some comments on the Latrobe line and into Greensburg which
I'll share in the next few evenings...
