Col Harley Swift once proposed in a newspaper
article running two PCC's back to back (about 1963).
I guess he would have cut in additional doors on
the blind sides.
MU operation of PCC's worked well in many places..Shaker Heights,
PE, Boston, Toronto but required heavy loads at peak.
With one man per car, with out Proof of Payment fare
collection, there really was no big advantage. Old time
systems with trailer cars often saved one person (3
instead of 4 when you had conductors). Would have required
purchase of MU equipment and couplers.
Always interesting discussions.
