*Yellow* Cars & Fineview -- WAS: [Re: Laketon Road -- W as: This Last Week]

I can confirm that selected 1690s were rebuilt for use on 1690 ... they show
in the last of PCCs with modified brake apparatus. I cannot confirm what
was actually done. I was told that the air brake pressure was increased. A
different source told me that there were holes bored in the floor so sand
could be dumped from inside ... that to me sounds a lot like a railfan rumor
... the kind of rumor that becomes fact if we tell it often enough. I'll
believe it if three separate motormen, who worked the cars, tell me it is
true without having contact with each other.

I was under the impression that the 1680s --
1680-1689 -- were
specially reserved for Fineview. And *trollefan--rumor*
stated that
these cars had modified brakes specifically to hold on the
hills.
			Can anyone confirm????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
