One of my worries about this hobby of ours is how well it will endure in
the future. Will the kids of today have the same fascination with LRV's
as we did with PCC's and our fathers with the older cars? Will there be
a discussion list 30 years from now talking about the merits of the old
LRV's versus whatever succeeds them (oooh, there's a scary thought).
Will our kids one day be riding a LRV at the PTM? Will the new
buildings and street furniture of today have the same charm and emote
the same feelings that we have for the old buildings of yesterday? For
me, the new stuff is just too bland and sanitary to provoke any feelings
for it (at least, not any good feelings). But I hope that it will have
enough merit to inspire feelings in the younger generation for them to
continue to have the same experiences that we have had.
Just my $0.02 worth.
