I see your point and I don't doubt its validity. I never had any contact
with MSR except for member Bill Wong who is friendly and informative.
But I must point out that every trolley museum or heritage operation I
have ever written has answered back. No matter how trivial my questions
could be considered, I always received a reply. Some of the guys went
above and beyond my expectations to get me an answer.
If what you say about MSR brass is true, then they ought to find a
"lower level" member who has the time and desire to be a public
relations person of sorts. This individual could field questions from
those of us among the "unwashed masses." :-)
Seriously, most people I know from Pittsburgh are getting fed up with
cost overruns and this Port Authority Gold nonsense. They want more bang
from their tax dollar buck. Unfortunately, some believe the total answer
is more highway infrastructure. So if a heritage streetcar line really
is proposed, the proponents need to have all their ducks in a row.
And I wonder what Gomaco repops of Low Floors would cost in comparison
to rebuilding worn out PCCs that are not even native to the Steel City?
BTW, in 1998, I wrote PTM to ask if PAT was considering keeping a car
such as 1713 for fan trips and other charters. Scott Becker referred my
question to Dave Hamley. Dave's reply was, "Tell him if he wants to ride
a PCC, come to PTM!" :-) Ken J.
