Donora Wye -- Little Washington

Greetings!

        http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp46.htm shows the
Donora Wye which we had discussed here some time back. Sometime in the
1920s, every other southbound car from Pittsburgh went through Charleroi
to
Roscoe and every other one went to Donora. Since these cars from Pgh.
were single-ended, they turned at this wye. It was variously used as a
freight spur. The Donora local cars did not use this wye - they
continued straight through in either direction.
        The date of this photo
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp36.htm is 1952.07.27. Cars
1614, 1646, 3761, and 3769 were jointly chartered by PERC (had the
Museum already formed at this point?) and the Akron, OH, RR Club. They
covered Washington, Shannon, Charleroi, Roscoe, Washington and regular
service car 4387 Black Diamond to Donora. Think that is 1646 coming
toward us with 1614 at the interurban terminal on the wye at the right.
Car 4383 is working the NORTH-WASHINGTON line, the only line to loop
downtown. The EAST-WEST line ran east and west here on Beau to
terminals on either side of town and the JEFFERSON-MAIDEN line ran thru
downtown Little Washington on Main Street.
