Greetings!

	Gleanings From *Trolley Fare*
		April--1965

"The mystery of which 40 cars PAT had approved to be scrapped seems to
have been cleared up. These are the 40 worst cars on the system that
will be displaced and retired when the up-coming conversions are done.
Come to think of it, that's a real herculean task: picking the 40 worst
cars. 1400's should comprise the bulk of this number, along with a few
1500's. PAT now claims to have 283 PCC cars, which doesn't quite seem
to jive with the figures of March, 1964. We'll try to find out why and
include an up-to-date roster and assignment list in the next TF."

And from the May--1965 issue: "In the item on the trolley shortage
last issue, we predicted that warm weather would ease the situation. It
hasn't, according to all reports, and in fact the bind seems tighter
than ever. A large number of cars are out of servicd due to low wheels,
and if Uncle Sam and/or Governor Scranton don't get some funds to PAT
soon, we may have to dig 1138 out of the barn at Arden and loan it to
PAT!
"Last issue we promised an up-to-date PAT roster and assignment list
for this issue. Our request to PAT . . . was quickly filled with a vey
detailed assignment list. However, due to a slight failure somewhere
along the lines of communication, it's a list of 'those other things,'
of which PAT owns some 858."
"Since your editor isn't too hep on these things, not knowing a 3609
from a C47-DT, I thought it best we not include this item in TF."
"An attempt to secure a similar list of STREETCARS is under way,"

Also found here: "Which one of our fun-loving members would like to
step forward and take the credit for affixing the Cordic & Co. 'Bridge
Leap' sticker to the rear of 1716?"
