That's an interesting note, Bob, about your Uncle Ray. He couldn't have
picked a more convenient and satsfyiing job pursuant to his retirement.
We rode that train just about every time we went to the park. I liked
the stretch of track that took it behind, and parallel to, the framed
structure of The Dips.
If memory serves, the "upper" car stop had a pedestrian tunnel that led
down into the park.
I believe this stop was where Danceland was located. I remember the
fences which helped establish a safety control of/for the trolley
ridership there at the Park.
I remember a row of Low Floors back in the 50's, then the PCC.s behind
the chain link parallel to the ROW at Keating. Everytime I passed
Keating and saw those cars on that stub I thought to myself....well,
they're headed for the scrappers torch.
An item of interest....there's a Wendy's in the Westview Shopping Center
that approximates the location where the adult "Whip" ride was located.
On the wall in Wendy's is a nice b/w 11 x 14 framed print of Low Floor
#5059 shown sittting at Keating with a #10 Westview sign and a 3700/3800
style interurban headlamp. There are also several other priints of the
Park displayed there as wall hangings. The pictures are courtesy of
Westview Borough. I tried to abscond with the trolley pic, and met with
failure. They must've got word I was coming for it and screwed frame and
all to the wall!
