Bob,
Let me know what you find.
I used to get my cameras repaired at Don Nichols Camera Shop in Millvale.
And, in the 50's, the Eat 'n Park at the end of the 40th St. Bridge was
the place to go. I also remember the Millvale motorcycle policeman
("Boots and Saddles") who used to ticket people (not me) who drove
eastbound on E. Ohio St. at the 40th St. Bridge, but then attemped to
continue on E. Ohio St. to Millvale.
My Dad worked at Heppenstall's (the sign's still there, I believe) across
the river on 43rd St. When I was in high school and needed the car, I
take a Spring Hill trolley or bus to 16th and Liberty, thentransfer to a
94-Sharpsburg trolley out Liberty Avenue to 43rd St. to pick up the car
in the Heppenstall lot. Then, of course I'd have to drive back there to
pick up my dad after work. I must have really needed the car.
I took photos of the Chessie Steam Special from the 40th St. Bridge in
1977. See <http://gelwood.railfan.net/other/bo/ches-ss-cr.jpg>.
