Bob,
Great shot of Chessie from the 40th!
Yep, Eat 'n Park at E. Ohio and 40th was one of the very first in the
area with waitress' on skates waiting on cars in their lot. My date and
I would stop there for a burger and shake occasionally.
While at Eat 'n Park I'd always be on the lookout for PRC's M283 and
M701 both of which operated out of the Millvale yard...one block down
old East Ohio Street from E/P.
Don's still in business and one of the best around. Just had him clean
and check out my Olympus OM1.Took half the shots on Dietrich's site with
it.
Fritz Merlick, (Boots & Saddles"), and his Harley Sidecar cycle was the
scourge of Millvale. He did the work of any three cops combined in
todays Force. I remember a time when his bike spun out on a curve near
the Millvale carbarn when the front tire somehow got wedged iin a
turnout switch following a rain. A group of kids witness to the event
started to applaud then bolted in a flash when he apparently reached for
his holster.
Will keep you posted on what I find on the West View pics.
Hey gang.....this all has to do with trolleys in one way or another, and
is all Pittsburgh related, so no off-topic chastisements please,
Bob
