Subject: Re: PCC Paint Schemes
Greetings!
This is what I call the Half n' Half paint scheme - the car was painted
this way. Belt rail and down is red - everything above is cream.
ALL PRCo PCCs were delivered with red paint above the windows -
except for #100 which was chocolate brown for a while, but she might
have been delivered in PRCo paint.
There were 4-basic PRCo PCC paint schemes -
and the order in which they appeared:
1) Red *below* the belt rail and all around the car,
both sides, front and back. Cream belt rail
and window area as well as roof. Red above windows
which tapers to a point at the front and wraps
around rear window. PCCs 100; 1000-1299;
1400--1564; 1600--1699 delivered this way.
YEARS: 1936--1945
2) Same as above but hour-glass front dash, cream center
with red half-circles. 1700--1799 delivered this way;
other PCCs occasionally repainted this way.
YEARS: 1949--1957?
3) Same as above but "V" front dash instead of hourglass.
Various PCCs repainted this way.
YEARS: 1957?--1960
INTERLUDE: Easiest to paint solid red front dash; many PCCs
of all series repainted this way.
YEARS: 1958--1960?
4) Half n' Half. Red belt rail and everything below, sides
front, rear. Cream windows and roof, front, sides
and back. Various cars repainted this way,
1500s and higher, possibly some 1400s,
NO 1200s or lower.
YEARS: 1961-->>
