Good Morning, Fred!

Tried to make it clear in my original post that there was *presumed* evidence
but it was definitely inconclusive. Not trying to create rumors nor trying to
fan flames of old ones. This is a sophisticated group and the comment could be
received without disparagement.
Forgot you were assoc. with BSM, Fred -- will try to find out some contacts
for you to query concerning the purported evidence! I was told that old files
of BTC were found rather recently (last several years?) which might indicate
such.
As far as assignments of 1600, when I saw the car in service on the 48-line, I
thought it possible that the car might have floated among divisions for a time
after delivery for maximum exposure on the system. Forgot to include this with
the post of URLs on Bill's photos. Even 1700-herself was shorn of external
interurban appearances and used on the 22-Crosstown for a time in late
1948--early--1949! And transit agencies do the same today - we are doing that
with the new ETI-Skoda TCs - having the new coaches operate on a variety of
lines for exposure until enough are on hand to service one complete line.

Thank You, John, for taking the time to scan and post Bill's photos!

Yes -- as you know, I have often quoted from these books as well!(:->)
Maybe it is more correctly stated that 1600 substituted for one of the original
1600--1699 series cars that PRCo ordered on 1944.01.14 as a 100--car order. On
the back of the pg.2 fold out in the above named book, "Note--6"
states::::::: "Ordered as body style 10 WITH--AIR--BRAKES [emphasis added]
and changed to body style 30 prior to construction."

Alan R. Lind's book, "From Horsecars to Streamliners," on pg.367 states this
about SLC Job #1646::::::: "The order was originally for 100--cars [PRCo
1600-series] until job 1646A was contracted." After 1646A was contracted,
only 99--cars were built for Job-1646!

Job #1646A is for The Queen Mary, 1600--herself, and she was shipped from SLC
on 1945.09.02 while 1601--1699 were shipped from 1945.07.24--1945.01.17.

BEST WISHES TO ONE AND ALL FOR

A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND

A HAPPY AND

	PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!!
