Greetings!

Butler and Musings

"AND WHILE WE ARE ON THE SUBJECT of public transportation
in our cities, Butler (Pa.) which finds itself in the very unfortunate
predicament of possible loss of its local transportation system was
reminded that the solution is not easy. Ellis L. Armstrong, former
chief of the U.S.Bureau of Public Roads says that there aren't enough
people in the U.S. to fill the front seats of the cars, buses and trucks
on the roads today. Every man, woman and child--185 milliion of
them--could be on the wheels and rolling at the same instant, and
wouldn't even fill the front seats of all the vehicles. Not a railroad
passenger train would have to move, let alone a streetcar, an airplane,
a steamboat--or even a bicycle or baby buggy!!"
