After re-checking the 1936 trolley bus photo, I noted that it was taken close to
the intersection (at the right) which would be Liberty and Grant. The old
Greyhound Bus Station and Federal Reserve Bank Bldg. would be out of view to the
left. If the trolley bus were on Liberty Ave., the Liberty Avenue buiildings
would be much closer to the bus.

Regarding the power plant to the far right in the photo:

See <http://gelwood.railfan.net/other/prr/prr-rex-bld.jpg>
for a photo that I took of the Railway Express Building demolition on 2/17/75.
The REA building was east of 11th St., and along the river; the power plant is
to the far right in this photo. (Photo was taken from the 39th floor of the USS
Bldg.).

I always associated this power plant with Duquesne Light Co.; the PRR had a
large power plant on the south side of its passenger station, along the Bigelow
Blvd. bluff. It paralleled the ROW later used by PAT's Penn Plaza line (now
we're on topic).

For a couple of photos of the PRR power plant, see:

http://gelwood.railfan.net/other/prr/prr-pittsburgh-station.jpg - taken
6/22/58, looking east; the power plant is behind the tower to the far right.

http://gelwood.railfan.net/other/prr/prr5874.jpg - taken 5/17/57, looking
southeast; power plant in the background. The PRR passenger train is on station
track 15, and after leaving the station it will enter the Panhandle Tunnel (now
used by the PAT subway).
