And now Fred comes back again:
I would not be presumptuous to question Baxter's authority regarding
events he witnessed. However, he came to Pittsburgh, I believe from
Philadelphia, during World War II. MU car and trailer operations ceased
before his arrival. Route cards generally show train operations but I
never saw any mention in the interurban route cards. This is not to say
that a test was made. There is a great picture in a sepia toned PRMA
publication that shows an MU train on 82 LINCOLN with staff posed in the
front step ... that might be taken by some as evidence that MU trains
ran on 82 LINCOLN except for the fact that the picture was not taken
anywhere near the 82 line ... it was simply a posed picture of an MU
train taken at the east end of Frick Park. This is not the evidence I'm
searching for. John Baxter was unable to answer other questions I had
about equipment before his arrival. Sorry Jim but I stand my ground.
I want to see some authentic information on interurban train operations
before I believe it.
