This is a follow-up to the recent discussion of the area
(Grant/Seventh/Smithfield/Liberty) where the trolley bus demonstration
occurred in 1936.
I just found an aerial photo taken of that area in 1930. It was
probably taken from an airplane - not a building - but it shows good
detail, including a trolley on Grant St. The view is to the east, and
shows most of the Grant and Liberty legs of the trolley lines; no
Grehound Bus station is there yet; it's a sweeping view from the
Duquesne Light Co. power plant to the north, past the PRR station and to
the PRR power plant to the south. The buildings and billboards along
Liberty Ave. are clearly visible. Lots of trolley tracks.
If anyone wants to see this photo, e-mail me off-list and I'll send you
a scan.
