.......So reads the caption to the article in the August--1954 *ERA
Headlights.*

The rest of the article reads:::::::

"Pittsburgh lost two more operating car houses in mid-July with the
closing of Highland and Plummer St. Stations. No route abandonments
were involved, merely transfer of lines to other barns: 71, 73
(Highland to Craft Ave.), 82 (Highland to Homewood), 1, 4, 5 (Plummer
St. to Keating), 94, 95 (Plummer St. to Manchester), 96 (Plummer St. to
Homewood). PRCo's barns have always been relatively small with respect
to the number of cars based in each, resulting in rather high overhead
costs per car, so that with reduction in number of cars in service
because of reduced riding as well as abandonment of some rail routes,
the trolley system should be stronger for the change to more efficient
use of its barns."

Interesting to have the 1, 4, 5 at Plummer with such long dead-head
routes (I know all cars are in service once on the street, but they are
still a long way from their home lines). And then the 94, and 95 moved
to Manchester on the North side!!

Also, twould seem that the 82-Lincoln, pulling out of Homewood for the
AM rush, would go to E.-Liberty to turn around and then head back to the
outer end to begin the day. Any confirmation of this?
